Acro Yoga, Cat Cafes & Pumpkin Soup
January
It’s so crazy that January 2019 has already come and gone. It seems as though time is speeding up as we’ve entered into the new plane of existence (ascending to the 5D reality). Considering that there were only 4 and a half weeks of January, it has been an extremely eventful month. If you’re interested in finding out more about the dimensional shifts, I can highly recommend this video and this youtuber (Aaron Doughty) in general.
My 2019 began at the North Sea with one of my best friend’s Kira, as we spent a cosy New Year’s Eve together, meditating and entering the New Year on a spiritual high. I travelled back to Hamburg on the 1st day of January, where another of my best friend’s, Tanya, came to spend the day with me as she had just gotten back from India. What was crazy is that she brought me back a singing bowl from India. The reason it’s crazy is because I had made a vision board the night before with Kira, sticking everything I want to manifest on there. I had stuck on a singing bowl because being a yoga teacher, they’re nice to have to gong at the end of the class or after meditations. So anyway, within 24 hours of creating that board, the singing bowl had manifested-so, so crazy! This month in general has been a really crazy month of more instantaneous manifestations (a reflection of entering into the 5D).
As my boyfriend Henrik was still in Düsseldorf for the first few day’s of January, I decided to make the most of a free flat by inviting the girls around. We had such a lovely evening as I turned the kitchen into an Indian style cafe (with lots of pillows and blankets on the floor). We had a potluck evening, where we each cooked and brought a dish to share. Seeing as we were a very international group (Indian, Russian, American, German, British), we had such a wide variety of delicious foods. After eating the delicious food we all did a group guided meditation, followed by a clothes swap where we exchanged the clothes that we no longer wear (all of the left over clothes got donated to the women’s shelter). I feel so grateful to have such a wonderful conscious community of like minded women in my life. It truly does make such a difference being surrounded by people who share similar values and lifestyles.
January was also a very awesome month for me, as my Momma Bear finally came to visit me in Germany. Yet again we hadn’t seen each other for several months, so it was soo nice to finally get to spend time with her again. It was birthday while she was here, so I took us for lunch at a vegan rescue cat cafe ‘The Katzen Temple’. The cat’s were super cute, and the cafe makes the most amazing vegan coconut curry. About a week after, I also took Tanya there for breakfast and the cats were so much more playful that time around. They were running along the ceiling and jumping onto the tables. We also ended up having a lovely day as it was so sunny (yet still cold), so we took a walk to my favourite park in Hamburg (Planten un Blomen), where we checked out the Botanical Garden as Tanya had never been.
A couple weeks into January, Kira and I had our SECOND Women’s Wellness Workshop in Düsseldorf. (Including a Vinyasa flow yoga class, guided meditation, guided visualisations, eye gazing, vegan lunch, journalling exercises and Yin yoga). As usual it was so much fun to host, and we met so many amazing and interesting women from all around the globe. We’re super psyched to be finally hosting our Hamburg edition to the workshop on the 10th February.
This month Tanya and our other friend Sarah also attended an Acro Yoga workshop, which was so much fun! Sarah and Tanya had never tried Acro before, so it was fun to introduce them to an upside down style of Yoga. It was so great to reconnect with Acro, as I used to do it quite a lot while living on the Sunshine Coast in Australia. We would also have Acro jam’s in the park in the beautiful weather. So it was super nice to reconnect with an Acro community. The next day I spontaneously attended a Thai Massage workshop (as thai massage and acro yoga are often combined). Although the whole workshop was yet again in German, I still managed to somehow follow along and I even got to receive a one hour full body thai massage from my workshop partner, as she needed to practice (win-win).
Overall January has been a super high vibe month. I’ve had two really great opportunities come up including teaching at another studio ‘Peace Out Yoga’, which I manifested since when I first moved to Hamburg. I will soon begin to yoga teach at ‘WeWork’, a co-working space which offers a variety of different activities for their customers. I’ve also been introducing new spiritual self care packages (my mums idea), including an hour of Reiki, head massage, card reading, tea and vegan treats. It’s been going so well and I’ve been having lots of people interested in the sessions. This month I also hosted by first Women’s Full Moon Circle of the year. It was super special as it was Super, Full, Blood, Eclipse Moon. The energy was so powerful and it was a really emotionally intense workshop. I feel so grateful though, to be able to bring women together, to support one another and help each other grow.
I’ve decided to host another workshop in Düsseldorf (at the end of Feb), where we will focus on connecting to the Divine Feminine. I feel such a calling to work with empowering women, and bringing women together. So this is something really important to me and I’m so looking forward to running the workshop. Plus I will get to visit another really great friend, Eli, who I’ll be staying with whilst I’m there (and catching up with my other lovely friends I still have in Düsseldorf).
I’ve booked flights home for a visit to the UK in March, where I will co-host this same workshop with my good friend Grace, who has just returned from India upon completion of her yoga teacher training. Yet another workshop collaboration which has popped up from this month, is combing intuitive art and yoga with a new friend Heather, who I met at a Girl Gone International event. Heather is running inutive art workshops and she reached out to collaborate, so that is exactly what we’re doing (in March). If you’d like anymore information about my upcoming workshops, check out my facebook page events.
So that’s enough of me, now onto the good stuff!
Favourite Recipe of January: Pumpkin, Sweet Potato & Ccoconut Soup
So I learnt this recipe from Henrik’s Mum, Ute, as she made this as our vegan Christmas day starter. It was so, so creamy and delicious from the coconut milk, and the freshly squeezed lemon and orange juice gave it a great tangy twist. So as soon as I got back to Hamburg, I bought a blender online just so I could make this soup! I’ve been making it so often as it’s soo delicious, and the pefect winter warmer!
Favourite Read/s of January:
1) Light is the New Black: A Guide to Answering Your Soul's Callings and Working Your Light, by Rebecca Campbell
This was such an uplifting and easy read. It’s dedicated towards the modern day female light workers, who are here to carry out their life purpose while simultaneously still being involved with society and everyday life. Rebecca tells her inspiring tale of turning her mess into her message. Throughout the books she offers tips and tricks of how to live more in alignment with your soul self. I can highly recommend this book if you want a light hearted read and some inspiration to get started (or motivated) along your spiritual journey.
2) The Year of You: 365 Journal Writing Prompts for Creative Self-Discovery, by Hannah Braime
I really love this book, although it isn’t a proper reading book. Each day contains a new journalling prompt, based on a certain theme from the month you are in. It’s great because you can start anywhere throughout the book, depending on when you buy it. You can also use it year after year, as each time you will bring something new to your journal. I’ve been using this on and off for almost a year, and it’s a really great way to tap back into your creativity, to align yourself with your goals and to rediscover the joy of journalling. It’s also only £1.99 if you have a kindle which is so good!
Here are some of the books I’ve read (and can HIGHLY recommend) which inspired my spiritual awakening:
Favourite DIY of January: Yoga Mat Cleaner
If you’re reading this blog, then it’s very likely that you attend a yoga class every now and then (whether that’s at a studio or in your bedroom watching a youtube yoga class). So it’s important after our practice that we cleanse our mats. Not only due to hygiene reasons, but also to clear away any stagnant energy that we released onto the mat. All you need is something to store the cleaner in. The most ideal would be a dark glass container, so that the quality of the ingredients are not damaged by the light.
Ingredients:
-250ml Water
-1 teaspoon Apple Cider Vinegar
-2 drops Tea Tree Essential Oil
-1 drop Eucalyptus Essential Oil
-2 drops Lavender Oil
Method:
Combine all of the ingredients together in (ideally) a dark glass spray bottle (you can find some on Amazon at a decent price). Shake well together and keep out of the sun light. I can also recommend that you first spray the cleaner onto a cloth, and then wipe over the mat. This is because if you spray directly onto the mat, it can seep into the mat which makes it a little damp and slippery (the same goes for all yoga mat cleaning sprays).
The apple cider vinegar is great in the spray, as it makes the mat less slippery and creates better grip. The tea tree and eucalyptus are used because they act as a natural disinfectant, and the lavender oil is great for a nice calm and relaxing scent.
Favourite Yoga Flow of January: Fast & Effective Core Workout
I’ve created this flow for those who don’t have that much time in their day to exercise, but would still like a fast and effective core and total body workout. I love to do this sequence in the morning after I wake up, as it awakens the whole body, preparing you for the day ahead. I hope you enjoy this one!
Favourite Quote of January:
“The moment you realign with love and stop relying on your own strength, clear direction will be presented. The presence of love will always outcast fear. Being in union with the energy of the Universe is like an awesome dance where you trust your partner so much that you just surrender to the beat of the music”
-Gabrielle Bernstein (The Universe Has Your Back)
I really resonate with this quote as it’s simply so true. As soon as we surrender to love and let go of fear, everything falls into place, things line up and opportunities flow in. I also love the dance analogy, as once you surrender the need to control, you will be divinely taken care of.
Poem:
As my mum came to visit me this month, I decided to write her a poem as it was her birthday. I’d like to share what I wrote here with you. The poem includes a lot of the natural elements as we’re both very in tune with nature, and I wanted to embrace the divine feminine aspects. My mum lives in Wales, and I live in Hamburg (before that Australia, before that England), so we haven’t lived together for a very long time now (almost 6 years). So I wanted to capture the essence of what it means to be apart for so long (as we have a very close relationship).
Being Without You Here-
Being without You here,
Is like a yogi without her mat,
A plant without her water,
A witch without her cat.
Being without You here,
Is like a candle without her flame,
The ocean without her waves,
A storm without her rain.
Being without You here,
Is like a tree without her leaves,
The moon without her sunlight,
The wind without her breeze.
Being without You here,
Is like a child without her toys,
The beach without her sand,
The thunder without her noise.
Being without You here,
Is as unbearable as it seems.
Like a soul without her mate,
A river without her streams.
